I've been in the studio creating these fabric wrapped doorstops today. We have a few doors in our place that will not stay open without help, so I thought that if we were going to have doorstops they should at least be pretty, right? I got the idea from Cath Kidston's book, In Print. This is a beautiful book if you've never checked it out. It has lots of great ideas for vintage fabrics. This project was quite easy. I went to Home Depot and got a couple of bricks and wrapped them in felt so that they would not damage the fabrics. Then I picked some heavier upholstery weight fabrics that could stand up to being on the floor full time. Ideally, I would have picked darker fabrics because these are not washable, but alas, I do not own dark fabrics. Anyways, I cut the fabric to size and then hand stitched it to the felt covered brick. It took some time, but it was very relaxing and fun and I got in about 6 episodes of Gilmore Girls on DVR. That is always enough to drive Ryan batty. Although, he is getting even this very minute watching football.

My future plans in the studio include actually making over the studio itself. Our second bedroom that is dedicated to our office/studio space has become completely inefficient. There are piles of random paper stuck in with mailing supplies stuck in with fabric stuck in with paint, it's crazy, and it makes it hard to truly work in here. So I have big plans to clean, purge, organize, paint and completely redo the room. This idea has me both excited and daunted, but nothing worth doing ever comes easy right? I hope to have some progress to share on this monster project very soon. Maybe it will be easier than I think, let's hope so!
