Hi! Wow now I'm pushing our Tuesday project all the way to Thursday? Well, I have a good excuse, I think. We were in Portland this past weekend and actually did not return until Tuesday morning. Ever since then I've been running around trying to catch up. So here it is; the word is organic, Liz's is on top and Kalli's is on the bottom.

It hit me this weekend, as I was walking around Portland, that I was probably in the best city on the planet to be inspired by the word organic. Perfect! I took so many beautiful photos of just a small percentage of what that city has to offer in terms of nature. Please check them out at my Flickr page. I was going to do a little photo collage of all of the beauty that we saw, but instead it was this photo that stood out to me as being so strong but so simple at the same time. I love the inherent duality in this steely, beautiful flower. And I have a super rule-breaking confession to make. Ryan took this photo, not me. Look at me; all freewheeling and thumbing my nose at the "rules." I think it's ok though, I'm pretty sure that Kalli is pretty loose with the rules.

And look! Kalli took a photo this week too! We did not coordinate this. Just another example of how this project sort of synchronizes the two of us. Kalli says, "Here's a photo of the newest living addition to my apartment, Mr. Spiky. He's pretty yet pointy. I hope I don't kill him. I was just thinking of the word organic defined as simply "living matter," though it was tempting to do something with produce or using it as a design aesthetic descriptor of loose, natural style, but most of my work is like that anyway."
Aww... Mr. Spiky is very pretty and healthy looking. I have faith in your plant caretaking skills, Kalli.
