Kalli and I have a new project and I am so excited to tell you about it right here, right now! We are going to be posting every Tuesday (I know, I'm a day late already) about food. What could be better? We have decided to be really loose with the rules on this one. We are not using words to be inspired this time, just sharing recipes, photos of what we've made, it could be a restaurant review, a link to a food blog, or even just sharing some of our favorite snacks from the grocery store. As long as it revolves around food it is fair game. It will be like a weekly food chat. I love this idea and I am so excited to share good food with you. So, let's get started.
Liz * Sour Cream Apple Pie
Kalli recently moved into a new apartment, so I thought what better way to warm her house and kick off our new food challenge than to bring her a homemade pie in a cute pie pan. This recipe is super delicious and super simple. Plus, the best part is that it will make your house smell fabulous.
Kalli * Whole Wheat Pizza
Since moving into my new apartment (with a bigger kitchen) I made a new resolution about becoming a better cook in this place. So this project is perfect additional motivation!
I've made pizza a number of times so far. It's really easy since I can get premixed (uncooked)* whole-wheat pizza dough from Trader Joe's, top with whatever ingredients I have and pop it in the oven for about 12 minutes. For this one I used spaghetti sauce, shredded cheese, steamed broccoli, arugula, tomato and chopped up roasted chicken breast patties (also premade from TJ's).
*tip with using this dough - oil and flour your cooking sheet very well so dough isn't overly sticky, and crisp it up in the hot oven for a few minutes prior to adding toppings.
Ha! We both made pies! That pizza looks seriously good right now. I have yet to eat dinner. Good tip for the TJ pizza dough. I love the convenience of it but it can be a bit unruly to roll out.
