Carefree and slightly bored . . .
Quiet contemplation . . .
Serious and sassy . . .
Rylie has so many different looks it is hard to keep up. I can already tell a big change in her in the mere three weeks that she has been on the planet. Her little face is filling out and she is definitely getting longer. She has already outgrown some of her newborn sleepers. Jeesh, kids really do grow up too fast! She is getting stronger too. She practices lifting her head on her movement mat and just in the last few days she has started cooing.
Next week Rylie will get to meet some of her little friends. Fauna, who is almost 10 months old and Olivia, who is almost 3 months old. It will be fun to see how much the babies change physically and in their personalities in the span of just a few months.
Today I finished reading the La Leche League's book; The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding. I had started it when I was still pregnant and eager to learn all I could about the subject. It has been relaxing and enjoyable to finish it up while actually breastfeeding. It is a pretty exhaustive guide on the subject and covers most everything you'd need to know. Besides a great breastfeeding manual, it also touches on a lot of important issues regarding parenthood and becoming a mother. I would highly recommend it to all new mothers, and fathers alike. Ryan just finished The Happiest Baby on the Block and we also watched the DVD last night. This one is a method put forth by a local pediatrician for soothing a crying and fussy baby. It has many good techniques and tools that have worked for Rylie, but overall it is a little simplistic in it's approach. That being said, it is worth a read or at least the time to watch the DVD. As brand new parents, we welcome thoughtful insight into the world of a newborn. Slowly and surely, we are learning how to weather the rough spots.
