This weekend we were fortunate enough to travel up the coast a bit to Point Dume in Malibu. It is a magical and gorgeous place that is very special to Ryan and I.
This is a view of the Point from the beach (see the tiny little moutain climbers on it?) I see this beach in a lot of commercials and tv shows too. It is really beautiful and, oddly enough, not too crowded. The view from the top looks something like this . . .
and the flora and fauna . . .
I couldn't get a good photo of the seals sunbathing on the rocks below. And it is hard to explain just what it sounds like here; it is still with the quiet and steady roar of the ocean and the intermittent ring from a distant buoy. When I was up there, I tried to stand in peace and full awareness of my surroundings and to really be there in that moment and drink it in. I'm pretty sure it set me straight for the rest of the weekend – that brief five minute meditation.
We were so excited to bring Rylie up for her first visit (she mostly snoozed) because Point Dume is the site that Ryan proposed to me almost four years ago now. That is a whole other blog post in itself that I would love to share with you sometime.
June 2, 2007 before Ryan popped the question. This serves as proof that I was completely unsuspecting, because had I any inkling of what was about to happen, I may have dressed a little more appropriately.
Here is another sweet photo that I dug up when putting this post together. In November of that same year, Ryan's folks were out for a visit and Ryan and I took them out to the Point the day before Thanksgiving. Ann, do you remember this?
I love looking at old photos! Look at those yellow sunglasses, will you? I loved those things and I either broke them or lost them; which is usually the case with sunglasses, right?
