It is cold, dark and rainy here this morning. So much so that yoga was cancelled. I am incredibly grateful for my yoga class in my friend Mandy's backyard. Each Tuesday and Friday morning we meet up over there with the kiddos and a wonderful instructor leads us in a relaxing and challenging practice. The exercise is great and so is the mama support! But look how dark the kitchen is this morning:
Luckily, I put those cheery aprons up as curtains a few weeks ago, or things would be downright gloomy. Rain in May is somewhat unusual around these parts. Our rainy season is generally November - March or so. Our May and June is often overcast because of the Marine Layer but not rainy. We call it May Gray and June Gloom, clever huh ;) It is a small price to pay for the 73 degree and full sun days we enjoy (almost) year round. But, on days like today the furnace kicks on and off all day, brrr... Anyways, enough weather talk, aren't those aprons cute in the window? My lovely mother-in-law spoils me with sweet vintage aprons quite regualrly. I wear them often to cook and when I decided that we could use some curtains in the kitchen, they seemed the perfect solution.
Do you know what is good about cold, damp days? They provide the perfect backdrop for listening to all kinds of new music! Ryan has great taste in music and does a wonderful job at keeping us current in this household. If it weren't for him I'd be Polly Wolly Doodling all day. Here is what we can't stop listening to lately:
Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues
My Morning Jacket - Circuital
(this is not released yet, but Ryan's got the hook up ;)
Paul Simon - So Beautiful Or So What
Cotton Jones - Tall Hours in the Glow Stream
Middle Brother - Middle Brother
