In Recent Days . . .

* We have learned how to stand on the coffee table.

* Enjoyed our most unusual pumpkin tree!

* Gotten in some good cousin time!

* Sprouted some new hair!

* Practiced running . . . a lot (already????)

* Rode our bikes

* Discovered that, indeed, there is dirt in the house

*Admired a neighbor's ripening persimmon tree

*Received our very first CSA delivery (I am in love)

*Noshed on a cucumber for the first time

What have you been up to lately?

This Week . . .

. . . is brand new . . .

. . . just starting . . .

. . . wide open . . .

. . . ripe with opportunity . . .

I find it incredibly helpful to set intentions: intentions for my week, for my day, for my yoga practice, and when I am focused enough, I try to be intentional about each moment. Won't you join me in setting an intention for the week? I think mine will be Wonder.

Wonder at how the summer growing season provides an abundance of food this time of year.

Wonder at how the light is changing day by day.

Wonder at how soon we will be wearing things like mittens, scarves and costumes!

Wonder about ways in which I can S*L*O*W down.

Wonder an utter amazement at how our babe has gotten this big:

Guess Who Walks?

. . . and climbs? and grows hair overnight? and says things like "Hi Dada!?"

Party Time

This weekend, we attended not one birthday party, but two! On the same day! Lots of fun, with lots of friends all the way around - we are so blessed. Our friend, Leo, turned 3 and had a dirt party, which was so wonderful and creative. There were a bunch of activities for the kids centered around, you guessed it, DIRT! There were mud pies, digging for treasure and play dough to name a few. I met Leo's incredibly creative and inspiring mom when she contacted me about buying fabric scraps for her projects. We kept in touch via our blogs and learned we have lots in common, and have become pals. There are wonderful things about this era of connectivity, aren't there?

After Leo's party, we had to change clothes and head to Henry's 1st birthday party. Henry is Ryan's creative partner's son. He and Rylie are only 7 weeks apart. Here they are about 6 months ago; Henry enjoyed eating Rylie's foot that day.

Henry's party was at Trails Cafe in Gritffith Park and was decked out with owls, foxes and other little woodland creatures. Oh, and let's not forget this strawberry rhubarb pie. No, let's never forget that. Ummm . . . I mean . . . C'mon. It was possibly the best pie I ever ate.

We made Henry a Buddy, a project from this book. Rylie absolutely fell in love with him and now I know what is next on my crafting plate. I snapped these before we wrapped him up.

Buddy and I had a little coffee talk before saying good bye? What did you do this weekend?

Mandy's Kitchen

These are Mandy's new curtains! I walked into her kitchen the other day and almost squealed I was so pleased with how they came out. Her sister made them for her using Sugar Pop fabric. I think the color is wonderful in her mostly white, vintage-y kitchen. Oh, and check out her back door in the laundry room.

While I was busy snapping away to get these photos, I also could not resist her amazing stove that, "just came with the place."

Wow. Lucky. Mandy and her family bought this house a few years back and have not stopped working on it since. It is beautiful and truly their own haven. Mandy is an incredibly warm and lovely person. I sometimes feel like I've known her forever, when really it's only been a couple of years.

This light fixture also caught my eye; it looks like an elegant icecube. Just the kind of icecube Mandy would slip into your lemonade as she invited you to her backyard oasis to chat about life, work, family and everything else. She's like that.
