With a toddler in the house, we attend a lot of birthday parties. You may remember this one, or this one, or this one. It is great fun and there is no end to the variations of party themes. This past weekend we went to a first birthday party for one of our friends at a pretty amazing play space called The Coop in Studio City. It was loaded with fun things for the kiddos and well designed with plenty of eye candy for the parents. It is certainly safe to say that Rylie had a blast.
When I look at these photos of my little baby playing like a big girl, it reminds me that she is nearing two years old and it seems impossible that much time has passed since we first laid eyes on her that glorious summer morning. She delights us by the hour and is picking up words all the time and every where. She is increasingly independent, and at this very party, had no care as to where her parents were. She was off exploring as she often does. She is an observer, a careful studier of people, places, things. Ryan and I are both this way - a little introverted and content to wonder, dream, imagine without saying much. It is very cliché to talk about how fast it all goes, but I'm also happy to have those constant reminders from well-meaning folks. They say to make sure you enjoy every moment because it goes so fast and before you know it that little one will be leaving the nest. And if you don't already know it from reading this blog, becoming a mother has made me loads more sentimental.
After all of the play we donned our birthday hats and sang Happy Birthday to Sadie. And what is a birthday party without a little bit of red velvet?
